Bold Action
Well, I want to start with congratulating us for making it through the 400 days of January! It was a little iffy at moments but we did it!
“I didn’t ask you to feel worthy of your assignment.
I asked you to be willing to walk in it.
I picked you for this.”
~ God *
What was your first thought when you read that?
- Did you think of something that you know you’re supposed to do? Did you panic?
- Did you think of something that you started but kinda stopped and not really following through with?
- Did you have the urge to hit the close button, find some laundry to fold to keep yourself distracted?
If we’re being honest we have done all of these at times.
What is it about stepping out into something new that can have us forgetting our own name and completely freezing like that game of tag?
I have lived too long doubting myself and not walking in who God says I am.
I have believed and walked in false beliefs about who I am, what I can do and…and…and.
I have battled being more worried about what a few may say or listening to the voice whispering things opposite of what God says to me. This is where the hard work of Romans 12:2 comes in:
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world,
but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.
Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good, pleasing and perfect.” (NLT)
Listen, you’re step of obedience will look different than mine AND there are multiple opportunities of obedience/disobedience I face on any given day. There are different seasons of walking in what God has placed before me. I fight every day to have my thoughts, my reactions, my actions, my words look like Jesus not the other guy.
Speaking of how we talk to ourselves…this can cause one of two reactions: “Step Out or Shrink Back”.
We need to ask ourselves if our self talk is following this criteria. Is it:
T - True
H - Helpful
I - Inspiring
N - Necessary
K - Kind
If not, how can you change the way you speak to yourself? Remember, YOU are loved and cherished by your Heavenly Father.
If you are walking in all that God has for you, I’m so excited for you!! Keep going! Keep shining! Keep taking those steps! Encourage someone to take their next steps. If you are struggling to believe that you’re not an imposter and that you belong at the table, in the room, doing that thing that makes you feel inspired and unsettled at the same time.
TAKE THE STEP!
I don’t know what God has put in your heart but I know you should do it! It would be a shame if that thing is a point of regret in your life?
Taking Bold Action can feel a little self-serving at times and definitely can be scary and unfamiliar. God understands that about us and for every reason, every excuse, every fear, every doubt or past failure He says in 2 Corinthians 12:9:
“Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’
So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses,
so that the power of Christ can work through me.” (NLT)
Also, not stepping out and staying small is a place where there is no growth, no fails, no successes - feels kind of sad, doesn’t it? Do you want to live there? I don’t.
We need to stop making excuses for playing it safe, small and stuck.
We cannot let our comfort lead our decisions.
We need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
Where would we be if Jesus did that? He didn’t live His life that way. He didn’t face His death that way.
Jesus took Bold Action every day He lived and how He died.
If we are truly Followers of Jesus - wanting to live and love like Him - we need to take Bold Action!
This is your sign to DO IT! Whatever that looks like for you today.
I’m proud of you! I’m cheering you on!
Have the most amazing day!
All My Love ~
Jodi xoxo
