"Hovering Over the Chaos: A Reminder You Are Loved As You Are"

Today, I’m not going to share anything earth shattering or something you haven’t heard before. Sometimes it’s about being reminded about the simple and amazing love God has for us.

The Chaos & The Beauty:
Sunday was a rough day for me, filled with anxiety and agita. God in His graciousness did not scold me for still struggling but met me.

I came across this while reading and I wanted to share it with you for when you need to pull this out to remind you how much you are loved and cherished by our Living, Loving God!

In the beginning when God ended each day of creating this amazing world with all the awesome and some funny looking creatures He said: “It was good.”

The Jewish scholars/translators, translated the Hebrew word “tov” means “good,” with the Greek “kalos” meaning “beautiful.” After the first day of creating, God saw it and said it was beautiful. After the second of creating, God saw it and said it was beautiful. After the third day of creating, God saw it and said it was beautiful. You know how it goes.

Now, let’s take that information and apply it to Genesis 1:27,31:

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.”

“God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.
And there was evening, and there was morning - the sixth day.”

When God saw you He said she is beautiful; he is beautiful.

Hear me here: God doesn’t see your productivity and say she is beautiful. God doesn’t see you crushing your fitness goals and say he is beautiful. God doesn’t see how you have mastered your anger with the help of Holy Spirit and think she is beautiful.
I think He is proud of us when we do those things but His love isn’t contingent on what we do or not do. His love came first and will last through every triumph, every failure, every struggle, every joy, every sadness. In the middle of the mundane and boring or riding high in an amazing moment.

I need to be reminded of God’s unfailing, unwavering love for me as I am walking through healing and still struggling.

Hovering:
A prayer I have been praying over me is inviting the Holy Spirit to hover over me, like He did in Genesis 1:2.

The same imagery of the Holy Spirit moving and creating new life!

“Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface
of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” (italics mine)

God can create something new in my life when it feels formless, dark, lacking structure or purpose.

The Hebrew word used is “rachaph” meaning to hover, flutter or shake.
This word only appears three times in the Old Testament, highlighting it’s unique and intentional action.
It evokes the image of a mother bird gently fluttering her wings over a nest to warm or protect her young.

I need that hope that God is not distant or indifferent to what is happening in my life. That He is intimately present in the chaos and/or emptiness I feel.

Like I said in the beginning, not earth shattering, but I hope encouraging for those moments of darkness or feeling empty.

YOU are LOVED by GOD!
YOU are SEEN by GOD!
FULLY and INTENTIONALLY!

Remembering:
Take a few minutes to allow God to speak that truth to your heart and mind today. Write it down and put it somewhere you can see it when you need it.

God is hovering over you right now.
